blown out sky

I’ve been trying to look at the way I shoot with a different mindset recently.
It’s not by the book to blow out the sky with highlights that would typically distract from the subject of the photo, but when it’s an overcast day and I have a subject who is tossing a technicolored scarf over her head, why not try it out?
Maybe I should master the basics before I try to start experimenting like this…but I’m happy with the direction that trying shots like this is taking me. It’s an “almost,” and I realize that, but I’m hoping that after a million “almosts” I’ll end up nailing the shot I want perfectly.
